Thieves made off with thousands of dollars in jewelry early today
after breaking in to a Shelby Township jewelry store, according to
police.
The owner of Elegant Creations, 50704 Schoenherr, in a plaza just south of 23 Mile Road, is trying to provide detectives with a description of what’s missing, Shelby Township Police Lt. Michael Coady said.
“It appears that there’s a pretty fair amount of jewelry that’s been taken,” Coady said this morning about the overnight heist. “The owner of the store wasn’t able to give us a good inventory. He’s working on it now.”
An alarm at the store notified investigators of the break-in. The thieves got in by breaking glass at the front of the store, then smashing glass display cases inside, Coady said.
