THOMASVILLE, Ala. (WALA) - Thieves robbed a jewelry store in Thomasville Friday, August 9 and fired shots at the store owner.
Jeremy Overstreet who owns a store next to Tim Watts Jewelers said a few men were up the street asking for donations early Friday morning when they walked into Tim Watts Jewelers and began ordering employees around.
"They told them to get on the floor and there was actually another guy behind the counter and they tied his hands with zip ties," Overstreet said.
He said Watts walked the thieves around the store to show them expensive items while at the same time trying to get their faces on the video camera inside the store.
Overstreet said the robbers jumped into a car with a third suspect while Watts ran out the back door of the store and followed them in his vehicle. He said Watts yelled "I've been robbed, call the police."
Officials said the suspect(s) got out of their vehicle and fired shots at the store owner before running into the woods on foot.
Police caught the two robbers and are still looking for the suspect driving the vehicle.
This robbery happened a few doors down from where businesswoman was murdered in 2012.

Thomasville residents said they’re surprised to see crime in the broad daylight when a lot of people are around and in a community where it’s usually peaceful and very safe.
FOX10 reached out to employees of the store but we’re told they were asked not to speak with the media until the investigation is complete.
