Los Angeles-based celebrity jewelry designer Neil Lane is in Houston for the first time. He’s visiting Jared in Memorial City tomorrow, Aug. 10, from 1-3 p.m. to preview his latest collections
for the company, and to show off some of the couture pieces that
inspired the more accessibly-priced styles. Open to public, attendees
will have a chance to meet Lane, shop the goods, register to win
jewelry, and view famous red carpet pieces. (Hint: The lavish diamond
necklace that Jennifer Garner wore to this year’s Academy Awards may be on hand.) The first 50 guests will receive a free gift.
You’d be hard pressed to come up with a designer’s name more closely
associated with Hollywood celebrities than Lane. He was lending his
pieces to the stars well before there were entire TV shows and tabloids
dedicated to breaking down Who Wore It Best, and his creations have been
worn by more A-listers than could possibly be mentioned in full here. A
small selection of his famous fans are featured in the slideshow below.
The Chronicle sat down with the impossibly friendly Lane prior to the
event, drooling over jewelry and chatting about topics such as his
upbringing in Brooklyn and the road to becoming a global super star; his
tipping-point moment when Katy native Renee Zellweger thanked him in
her acceptance speech at the Golden Globes back in 2000; working on
rings for “The Bachelor” and “The Bachelorette”; his design
inspirations; and fielding phone calls from Angelina Jolie. Look for the
full interview soon in the newspaper’s Style section.
Jared is located at 9829 Katy Freeway; 713-647-0934.
