Dominican Republic police investigated after $1.5M missing after raid on German-led sect By Associated Press,

SANTO DOMINGO, Dominican Republic — The chief prosecutor in the Dominican Republic says 14 police officers are under investigation in the disappearance of cash and property following a shootout at the compound of a sect led by a German man.
Francisco Dominquez Brito says authorities believe about $1.5 million in money, jewelry and other property was taken when Peter Brunck of Germany was arrested after a deadly shootout.

Newspaper Listin Diario reports that six officers admit that several safes were found at the compound. It says authorities found suspiciously large bank transactions for some of the men. Officials declined Thursday to confirm the report.
Brunck, his son and a woman from the group are still in custody on weapons and other charges stemming from the October 2012 raid in the resort town of Sosua.
