Gucci and Cartier watches worth between £80,000 and £90,000 were stolen when two masked men armed with a sawn-off shotgun and an axe burst into Guest and Philips in Saturday Market just after it opened at about 9.30am on Tuesday.
A Gucci watch and a Cartier watch were later recovered from the getaway car, a silver Vauxhall Omega driven by a third man, that was found abandoned with its engine running in York Road.
The gang are thought to have then fled along York Road in another car, a silver saloon, driven by a fourth man.
Police have now established that the silver Omega, registration KH03 UJA, had been seen in the Hereford Street area of Hull in the days leading up to the robbery, and would like to speak to anyone who saw it between Sunday, July 28, and Tuesday, August 6.
Detectives would also like to hear from anyone who may have sold or found the men’s clothing.
The shop pair both wore white paper overalls, black balaclavas, and industrial-style rubber gloves, one pair red and the other blue.
A spokeswoman for Humberside Police said: “It is likely someone will know something about this robbery, whether you have unknowingly sold two pairs of overalls and a couple of pairs of gloves to a customer recently, or you have possibly come across some discarded white overalls somewhere.
“If so please contact the police. If you see anything remotely suspicious that could help identify the offenders, I am urging you to ring. These two men entered a jewellery shop, around 09.30 in the morning, brandishing a sworn-off shotgun and an axe, whilst stealing an extremely large amount of high value watches.
“We must find the people responsible for this robbery and with the public’s assistance, I am confident we will.”
Police said the gang should be considered dangerous and should not be approached.
